Life After Release-9

Antique Bowl Used to Prepare Meal After Work

My life after release includes the Bowl shown in the above photo. Just as that bowl travelled with me since I purchased it at the United States Federal Penitentiary (U.S.P.) in Leavenworth, Kansas in 1989, so do the memories associated with how I served decades of my life in a cage.

LIFE AFTER RELEASE

Two days ago, I made a Ramen Noodle soup in the bowl inside the comforts of the house in which I live, unlike how I did in the small prison cells of the huge federal prisons I lived (U.S.P. Leavenworth, KS; U.S.P. Atlanta, Atlanta, GA; U.S.P. Lompoc, Lompoc, CA; U.S.P. Pollock, Pollock, LA, and at the Federal Correctional Institution in Edgefield, SC)

As Christmas 2021 approaches, I remain grateful for the life I live today as a free man who tries to make a difference in the lives of others. I’ve always been one to leave a lasting impression in the minds of those I came in contact with but not always in a positive way, the difference now is that I don’t leave a bad taste in the memory banks of those I meet.

An Attitude of Gratitude

When the world refuses to act according to Wayne, I must stop and remember that things work according to God’s will for my life and then be grateful for all I have instead of sad for all I don’t have but want.

PERSONALLY: Because I used to live the life of a dope fiend and a thug, I harmed many people, even those I loved. Today I do not live in the same way and do not harm others, even those I may not like. Regardless of how I feel, I treat people with love and kindness, at least, in most cases.

However, if angered my words may not be nice, but I still refrain from causing physical pain by walking away. On most occasions, I walk away before using words with the intention of causing emotional pain. I’m far from perfect.

ALONG SPIRITUAL LINES: Thus far I’ve failed to achieve spiritual perfection but have progressed along spiritual lines throughout the two and a half decades of my new life that allows me to sit in front of this computer typing this blog.

Affiliate Marketing and Promotional Content

Disclaimer: At no additional cost to you, I may receive a small commission for products and services purchased through this website. Paid commissions do not necessarily influence decisions to advertise or promote products or services. Nothing contained herein is intended to be financial advice, as I am not a financial adviser.

Another part of my life after release is trying to find a way to generate additional income. Unfortunately, my success with affiliate marketing is lacking.

One of the main reasons for my lack of success has been my failure to devote the necessary time and energy to succeed, as well as not using more advertising to get the word out about what I am promoting.

In the future I plan to get into flipping goods (buying and selling items on eBay, Poshmark, etc.), or to become an Amazon third party seller.

My main objective in anything I do is to remain focused on remaining a productive member of society instead of the cancer I was before I changed my life in 1995. If interested in learning more about the changes I made, please read The Price of Change, included in this book:

If you cannot afford to purchase a copy, send me a message through the info on the contact page and I will gladly provide so that you can download a free copy of the eBook.

Mother’s Day 2022

My heart goes out the people who have lost their mothers and cannot celebrate this special day created to honor those who brought us into this world, as we kicked and screamed for attention from the one who loves us most, our mother. That includes me and my siblings who lost our mother in 2016. … Continue reading Mother’s Day 2022

The linked article at the end of this blog to Yahoo.com Finance presents strong evidence about the presence and growth of cryptocurrencies around the world.

Several financial institutions have been investigating how to implement cryptocurrency to plan for what is to come, ready or not (I’m not writing about that aspect of Crypto).

The Digital World continues to expand with the Metaverse plans into the future, where trillions of dollars will be made as people venture into a virtual world. In anticipation of the Metaverse, companies like Facebook/Meta will lead the way into the new world.

Cryptocurrencies will play a large role in the Metaverse as payment plans and numerous other necessary functions for something so vast that most of our minds cannot grasp its magnitude.

At the end of this blog, I embedded a YouTube video for more information about how the Metaverse will work and affect the world in which we live.

Gratitude 2021

Another Million Views

An Attitude of Gratitude makes a difference in my perception of life in general.  Sometimes I must slow down to look at what matters most to make my attitude change from a negative perspective to the positive.

Having 19-million views on Google Maps does make me feel grateful on one level, but it’s only another number added to my accomplishments as a Returning Citizen.

Promotion Expires 11/30/2021: Limited time offer: Open an account with Webull and get a free stock! Fund it with any amount and get one more!   https://a.webull.com/eSWL4E1qmpYWXvp7T1

Writing about gratitude when not feeling so grateful about life as it is while writing isn’t easy, but I will overcome the negative feelings by writing about the positive aspects of my life.

I’m not filled with self-pity or dealing with depression.  Things just haven’t been going the way for me the way I had hoped.

Because I am dealing with a personal relationship not turning out the way I had hoped. I’m just not in my typical cheerful mode, as I often am when walking around the store where I work trying to spread cheer by speaking with others. Or when walking in a park enjoying nature, feeling a cool breeze that heightens the senses, or experiencing the joy of seeing something beautiful.

Self-Pity: One saying for feeling self-pity in the program of Alcoholics Anonymous is, “Poor, Poor, Pitiful Me, Pour Me Another Drink.”

The antidote for self-pity is to make a list of all you are grateful for in your life.

Writing and Typing: Right now, I am sitting in front of a computer working on a blog to help brighten the day of those whom I cannot see or do not know.  If this makes you smile, I am grateful for taking the time to do what I am doing.

Thinking about someone smiling while reading this blog gave me a burst of joy, and gratitude for the God-given ability to use words to help others to experience feelings.

Grateful for What Counts: I am grateful for my good health, for having eyes to see, feet to get me to where I want to go, and even if my two feet hurt, for having two feet to hurt. I’m grateful for the ability to love and for being loved.

Family & Friends: More so than anything else, I am grateful for still having friends and family who love and care for me and who I know would be there for me in times of need.

Tomorrow I will be celebrating with loved ones as we share love and hugs, and then while we eat good food. 🙂

In closing, I am grateful for not being in the same position that I was in back in 2016 when I wrote Gratitude and More from inside the United States Federal Bureau of Prisons. I am grateful for being a free man, a good man.

Now that is something to smile about, to be proud of, and grateful for being in a position to sit in front of this computer doing what I do best: write.

Happy Holidays!

Trading Apps I Use by Wayne T. Dowdy

WARNING: Trading Apps I Use is for informational and entertainment purposes only.  Opinions expressed are the authors based upon experience and belief.  Especially in reference to addiction and the potential impact on recidivism (reverting to old behaviors).

(Please see Affiliate Disclaimer below)

Neither I, or any of the YouTubers I mention, are financial advisers, stock analysts, or stockbrokers. However, some of the YouTubers may qualify based upon previous experience; one of whom is a retired teacher, former financial adviser, and stock broker, Stock Moe.

Stock Curry is a former analysist, who now analyzes the top YouTubers and voices his opinion about investment related issues.

Mike Jones Investing is a relatively new YouTuber who is knowledgeable and puts in a lot of time to provide meaningful content.

Wayne T. Dowdy does not have a degree that indicates or suggests that he is knowledgeable and qualified to guide or instruct others along the road to financial success.  I confess! I am not for the most part, but I will provide a lot of information to help others decide what may be their best option.

I am only a man with a plan who continues to focus on blending back into society after having spent over three decades of life inside a dungeon.

WORDS OF CAUTION

In my opinion, those with addiction issues, especially gambling, should avoid using trading apps to buy and sell stocks and or cryptocurrency, as doing so seems to trigger the same part of the brain that watching a roulette wheel spin, slot machine display roll, or cards flip when a dealer deals the cards.

Though I have not played roulette, slot machines, or the lottery, I am a former gambler who loved betting on sports and playing cards, so I know the feeling, the compulsion and obsession, and do check the trading apps to see where my investments stand, rather than doing other things that may be more beneficial to me and for accomplishing other goals. However, I management my money and do not use the margin accounts I have approved for use, should I so choose to use.

RECIDIVISM AND MONEY MANAGEMENT

For the returning citizen or future prisoners who fail to practice money-management principles, using a margin account to buy and sell stocks may be disastrous or profitable under certain circumstances; therefore, it is important to make sure that a person remain aware and to not go deep into debt trying to play the stock market.

SET BOUNDARIES AND STAY WITHIN THE MARGINS!

Going into debt and making poor choices lead me to a 420-month federal prison sentence in 1988. Again, I write based upon my personal experience and am not one to give someone bullshit and tell them it is candy.

Investing and trading on the stock market is risky. For people with addiction issues or a lack of money-management skills, a better choice than using trading apps is to use professional brokers, which may also be done through my favorite trading app, Charles Schwab.

PERSONALLY: Financial success is part of my plan and one that I continue to focus on by learning new skills and taking lessons from those who do a lot of research and provide information for the Unknowing to consider along the fantasy highway that leads to Wall Street, hoping to become a millionaire or independently wealthy. (Possible, though unlikely for most investors and day traders.)

One part of my journey involves six trading platforms/apps that I use, with the latest being Crypto.com (click the referral link and each of us will receive $25 if the stated conditions are met). The other trading apps I use are Charles Schwab, Webull, SOFI, Stash, and CashApp.

In later blogs I may write more about my experience with particular trading apps. Just FYI, though, CashApp is more limited than the others, but does allow people to send or receive funds for payment.

My favorite trading/investment app: Charles Schwab because I can buy OTC (Over-the-Counter) stocks and the format is easier for me to use.  Not being able to trade in cryptocurrency on Charles Schwab is my only complaint.  In reality that may be best since I have made numerous errors while trading cryptocurrency on Webull and SOFI.

In November 2020, I bought $200 dollars of Bitcoin when it was $18,552.50 per coin, and then panic-sold after the price climbed and then began to drop.  Because Crypto-trading reminded me more of gambling than trading or investing, I gave it up a few months.  Later, I bought and sold more and made a few dollars as it climbed to almost $65,000 per coin.

Addiction

Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result

Then Bitcoin dropped again and I did the same thing repeatedly: I bought more and now have become a Crypto-Addict, checking the cost of Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Dogecoin (DOGE), Ethereum (ETH), Ethereum Classic (ETC), and Litecoin (LTC), all throughout the night and day, buying and selling, and often screwing up by not following the advice of professionals like Steve at Crypto Crew University, who teaches people on YouTube When to Buy Cryptocurrency and When to Sell Cryptocurrency.  😊

Affiliate Disclaimers

I may earn an Affiliate Commission if you use any links on this website to purchase a product or service; however, my opinion remains unaltered regardless of the chance of financial gain.

Integrity is more valuable to me than any potential compensation that I may receive for a referral.

For Webull, I will theoretically receive free stocks for referrals, providing certain conditions are met.  Based upon my experience at dealing with them, I have not found Webull to honor their promotional offers, other than giving me free stocks when I signed up and funded the account and for one referral.

Even after presenting evidence of the referral, NO stock was given to compensate me. Maybe if someone clicks this link and funds the account with $100 before May 31, 2021, I will actually be compensated.

In my opinion, the Webull promotion to entice potential customers is misleading. The statement that is heavily promoted by YouTubers/influencers, “Get 2 FREE stocks valued up to $1850!” is a bunch of BULL for most people.  The highest value of the seven free stocks I received was $11.

The same principle applies for Charles Schwab, Stash, and SOFI (I will be compensated for referrals), even though the likelihood is not probable because of the conditions that must be met for me to qualify for referring a “Friend” who opens an account.

SOFI (Social Finance)

For instance, on SOFI, these conditions must be met: “For each friend that signs up and funds an Active Investing account with $100 or more, you’ll get $25 in stock—they’ll get $25 in stock, too.” (Click Here for SOFI)

What I like about my SOFI account are fast money transactions. My account is automatically loaded with requested funds to buy stocks or cryptocurrency. The applied funds are deducted from my linked bank account at later date.

SOFI also allows me to place orders at any time of the night or day, whereas Webull only allows stocks to be traded during regular market hours, other than cryptocurrency, which may be traded at any time, other than from between 5:30-6:30 PM, EST, I believe.

In addition, SOFI offers educational and other loans, credit cards and other services through affiliates.

CHARLES SCHWAB

Click the following image for my Charles Schwab affiliate link where you may create an account to buy Stock Slices (fractional shares; e.g., $5.00 or more of Amazon, Tesla, Disney, or other popular stocks); Over-the-Counter (high-risk), Exchange Traded Funds, and a variety of other investment options. But not cryptocurrencies, only MARA, ETHE, Coinbase Global (COIN), GBTC, and other shares related to cryptocurrency.

Charles Schwab Stock Slices

STASH.COM (Stash Financial, Inc.)

From the trading/investment apps I use, I feel that Stash Investments is possibly a good one for those who do not want to actively manage their investments. Click my referral link in the first sentence of this paragraph and we will receive $20 USD in cash or may choose to receive $20 of free stock if you open a Stash account and meet their stated conditions.

Stash is the first account that I begin using a year ago. However, the other apps are free to use and Stash charges a small fee. I pay $12.00 per year for the Beginner level.

I am not affiliated with any of the following companies linked below but I do believe that you may find each helpful, all of which are affiliates of the trading/investment apps covered in their reviews.

The first link is for Nerd Wallet, which I used when beginning my journey into the investigation into the world of trading in the stock market by choosing some of the Trading Apps I Use today. Prior to February 18, 2021, I made a lot of profits until the stock market began its corrections that continue today so proceed with caution and investigate before deciding to buy or sell a stock or getting involved with the cryptocurrency that I feel is the future.

Good Luck and Happy Trading!

Life After Release-6

LIFE AFTER RELEASE

My life after release continues to be in the present, as I have not become a recidivist who got out of prison only to return with a new charge(s) or for a technical violation on supervised release. For me it is easy since I don’t do anything I’m not supposed to do: I don’t get high, don’t run the streets, get permission before going out of the area, and just do the right thing by living in harmony with the Universe on most days.

In these types of blogs, I write from my personal experience and perspective, more so than from a broader, more general perspective of life after incarceration, or about my life while inside.

However, issues affecting those of us released, as well as those left inside, remain important to me, as will be shown if you search this website for “recidivism,” “returning citizens,” “Federal Bureau of Prisons,” “Incarceration,” where I have written numerous blogs relating to those issues. I contribute the following paragraph as a great resource for information.

PRISON POLICY INITIATIVES

For those interested in a more technical aspect of issues relating to Returning Citizens and recidivism or other prison-related issues, the Prison Policy Initiative contains volumes of important research information. I am personally grateful for Peter Wagner who devotes time and energy towards making a difference in the lives of others.

Fairshake.net

Fairshake.net is one of the best, if not the best, resource for returning citizens who need a broad base of information to help them carve their way into a bright future.

The owner of Fairshake.net invited me to write a few sentences for the Fair Shake New Year’s Eve Edition. This is what I was published:

“‘Miracles happen every day but what I learned is that sometimes I must do my part to make a miracle happen. I do what I believe to be the right thing and then get out of the way. I refused to give up my fight for freedom and fought 14-years to get Good Conduct Time. My last victory allowed me to leave for a halfway house on 08/28/2018, instead of 12/26/2018. My hope for better days got me through the dark days spent inside the dungeons of the United States Federal Bureau of Prisons. Today, hope keeps me moving in a positive direction in pursuit of the many goals I remain focused on achieving. Never lose hope!'”

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

My popularity continues to climb on Quora.com, where I have written several articles/answers about my experiences relating to life in prison and other related topics. The bulleted list that follows this screenshot of my statistics, shows the most read and upvoted content. These days I don’t have much time to devote to writing on Quora, but if interested in any of the topics, visit my profile page on Quora.com to access my Answers (https://www.quora.com/profile/Wayne-T-Dowdy).

CONCLUSION

I have more to say but don’t have time to write it, so I will close by asking those who like or want to invest and trade stocks, to read Massive Change by Wayne T. Dowdy. Watch the two YouTube videos by Stock Moe to learn something you didn’t know. 🙂

Sign up for a Webull account and fund it with at least $100 to get an free stock ranging in value. That will help me to earn two free stocks, too. 🙂 I thank you in advance!
