THE CRIME: Before leaving the trailer that morning, Rodney knew me and Nathan planned to get some drugs and cash. We couldn’t get rid of him, short of shooting him and throwing him in a ditch or off a bridge. He had mental issues and was a little slow in the head. Me, I had plenty of issues, but my mind ran faster than some computer chips, especially when fueled by mega shots of speed and cocaine. The point is that we didn’t need him to pull off the job, and by him being there, it cut into our profit-sharing plan. I warned him about the potential for danger, but he insisted on coming with us, so I said, “Keep your ass in the car and stay out of the way. Upon release, Midnight Express Books, released his book files. He revised the first copy. “The Story Behind the Novel” in this version of the novel is intended for use in colleges and universities to inspire and motivate the aspiring writer. Though this is a work of fiction, it contains a lot of truth about prison life and life in general that sometimes leads the unsuspecting to prison for long periods of time. The addition of the two chapters from the sequel helps the reader to understand more about the life of one of the two protagonist, and may make one feel that it could happen to them. Mr. D., who is in federal prison, wrote and added “The Story Behind the Novel” to show the difficulties he went through to make the book available, and to inspire his readers to apply themselves to accomplish what they want in life. With Chapter titles such as Enough, Vengeance, Mercy, Karma and Freedom, the story takes the reader on a psychological voyage they are unlikely to forget.The plot takes twists and turns to keep the reader waiting for the next chain of events that Mr. D delivers in dramatic, exciting and raw scenes. A serial killer escaped prosecution for his more sinister crimes. He does not escape the piercing sword of Lady Justice in the end.Love is not lost in prison. Love drives Stan Mason between his desire to get out of prison or risk spending the remainder of his young life inside to protect his sister. With shank in hand, he plans to prevent the plan that may lead her to prison. The pressure is on as he squeezes the handle.
A true romance that began after Wayne reluctantly agreed to write Karen. A mutual friend pleaded with him to write her and try to help; she wanted to break the chain of her addiction to methadone.
Her heart called his to make it whole. The poem Wayne wrote for Karen peeked into the future, where spirituality would merge the gap between peace and pain for him to find comfort in a situation he could not understand. Two Broken Hearts touched where only true love goes. Neither Wayne nor Karen knew her heart would leave a crack in his that would ultimately enlighten him about a phase of existence that he had never experienced.
